I just found out tonight that one of the students from my summer term class died in a motorcycle accident over the weekend. I am heartbroken by this news, mostly because I can recall so many opportunities I passed up to tell him about God and His love. I spent a lot of time with this particular student before or after classes and he confided in me about some personal struggles. But because of my belief that A) it was "unprofessional" to discuss God with students and B) he wouldn't have been interested in what I had to say anyway or might have even filed a lawsuit against me (he had on one occasion spoken of God in an extremely blasphemous way), I never told him about the peace that passes understanding. I was curious if anyone else had dealt with these issues in the workplace -- how do you decide how much or even if to say anything about God? You don't have to reply here, just something to think about.
Love,
Heather
