Goodbye 2010!

Looks like 2011 might be just as good, if not better than this year has been! We'll be wrapping up our "Bible Wars" study on Thursdays with the hopes of starting a new study in January (perhaps a daily Bible program?). Some will continue studying marriage, divorce and remarriage on the weekends together, and we still have plenty of other topics on the list we made together of things to study. It's pretty amazing that God's word offers an endless supply of knowledge on just about any topic that comes to mind. I'm looking forward to growing closer with everyone in the group as we strive for closeness with God together.

Thanks!

I am thankful for our recent studies on thankfulness and contentment. I am thankful for our group for so many reasons, but mostly for the edification I look forward to each time we're together.

What are you thankful for?

You might be thankful that I've updated the calendar through the end of January to reflect Sunday assembly locations. :-) Just kidding - just needed a way to throw that announcement into this post...really, what are you thankful for?

October happenings

I just updated our October calendar since we had to make a few changes to meeting places, etc. We need a volunteer to lead the assembly on October 10 and 17, so if you'd like to volunteer just send me an email and I'll add it to the calendar, or you can add it to the calendar yourself if you're able to access it.

This Thursday is Bible study at our house (7PM), and Saturday is the ladies' class at Peggy's (5:30PM). Sunday we'll be meeting at Peggy and Lonnie's house at 10AM.

Hope everyone's enjoying the BEEEautiful weather we're having!!

Love,
Heather

Lost opportunities

I just found out tonight that one of the students from my summer term class died in a motorcycle accident over the weekend. I am heartbroken by this news, mostly because I can recall so many opportunities I passed up to tell him about God and His love. I spent a lot of time with this particular student before or after classes and he confided in me about some personal struggles. But because of my belief that A) it was "unprofessional" to discuss God with students and B) he wouldn't have been interested in what I had to say anyway or might have even filed a lawsuit against me (he had on one occasion spoken of God in an extremely blasphemous way), I never told him about the peace that passes understanding. I was curious if anyone else had dealt with these issues in the workplace -- how do you decide how much or even if to say anything about God? You don't have to reply here, just something to think about.

Love,
Heather

Ladies class!

I am excited about Peggy's upcoming ladies' Bible class -- there will be lots of wisdom to take in, and besides, it's always refreshing to have some time away with "the girls." The first class is on September 11 at 5:30 PM. Hope to see you there!

Love,
Heather
